Answer: You would order Item No. 1032 (which accommodates opening widths from 23" to 25"). The set contains 2 panels. Using the E/Z strips you can fit the panels to your opening width. You would then cut 1" off the top and 1" off the bottom of the panel.
6. The size I need is not shown on the price list. The width of my opening measures 26 inches which falls between the available widths, i.e., 23" to 25" and 27" to 29". What should I order?
Answer: If the width of your opening falls between the sizes listed, you must mount your shutters outside the opening. We suggest you order the next larger width size, in your case 27" to 29", and install the shutters outside the opening. Mounting shutters outside of the opening is actually the easiest way to install your discount shutters.
7. I was unable to figure out the panel size to order for a window measuring 85-3/4" wide by 50- 1/2" high. I prefer outside mount.
Answer: The discount shutters is offered in the most popular sizes fitting windows up to 41" wide. We have had numerous resourceful customers order multiple units and assemble them together to fit their openings. Remember, the mount strips can be trimmed to fit just like the height of each panel. The best way to approach a wide opening is to order 2 or 3 shutter sets that add up to the width of the opening you want to cover. The more resourceful customers remove the pre-installed hinges and reinstall them to accomplish the fit they want. Otherwise, you may want to consider custom shutters.
8. How do I determine if I should mount my shutters inside the opening or outside the opening?
Answer: Installing your shutters outside the opening is the easiest way to install Discount Plantation Shutters. You must mount your shutters outside of the opening if the depth of your opening is less than 1-1/4" or when the available shutter width is not listed to fit inside your opening. Mount your shutters inside the opening when you have at least 1-1/4" depth in your opening and the available shutter width is listed for your size opening. You may need to trim the top and bottom of the shutter panels to fit inside the height of the opening.
9. Can I put more than 2 panels in my opening?
Answer: We have had some resourceful customers order two sets that added up to the total width of the opening. They installed them as a bi-fold. You can do as you like; however, we suggest you order custom shutters.
10. My opening measures 24" wide x 36" high. There is no shutter set which accommodates openings that are 36" in height. What should I do?
Answer: The vertical dimension can be reduced by cutting with a sharp table saw or a jig saw. Simply order the shutter set which is greater than and closest to your height measurement. Based on the measurements you gave (34" high), the closest height would be 36". You would then cut 1" off the top and 1" off the bottom.
11. How do I determine the actual width of the panel?
Answer: The size of each panel is determined by subtracting 4-1/2" from the maximum width listed for an item number. The exception is the Traditional 1-1/4" shutter sets that have 4 panels in the box which will require you subtract the 4-1/2" and then divide the width by 4. actual width of the panel
Plantation 2-1/2" shutter set example... Item Number 1032 fits an opening measuring 23" - 25" in width. Subtract 4-1/2" from 25" equals 20-1/2". Since there are 2 panels, divide 20-1/2" by 2. Each panel width is 10-1/4".
Traditional 1-1/4" shutter set example... Item Number 1010 fits an opening measuring 27" - 29" in width. Subtract 4-1/2" from 29" equals 24-1/2". Since there are 4 panels, divide 24-1/2" by 4. Each panel width is 6.125".
12. How wide are the mount strips
Answer: The mount strips are 1-1/4" wide and 5/8" thick.
13. How wide are the EZ strips?
Answer: The EZ-strip sets are 1" wide & 5/8" thick. They are divided into (8) 1/8" (just a hair over) strips that can be used individually or as a group to facilitate a proper fit for your shutters.
14. If I have to cut the shutters, how will they look?
Answer: The quality of the cut is determined by how sharp and how good the saw operator is. If done properly, the cut will look fine.
15. Can you completely open the shutters by pulling them toward you?
Answer: Yes, the panels are hinged and can be swung open as desired.
16. Since you don't have a return program, I feel uncomfortable about ordering. Do you have a sample program?
Answer: We don't offer a sample program. We suggest you choose the smallest window you would like shutters on and order just one window. We have had many customers try the product this way. This limits your risk and after you see how great they look in your window, you can order shutters for the rest of your home.
17. Do you have the Discount plantation shutters that will fit sliding glass doors. (The ones where two are hinged together on each side and the two on right move past the two on left)?

18. Could you please tell me what size shutters I should order, if my window height measures 54 in. by 86 in.?
Answer: I would suggest you try 2, 1061 shutter sets and assemble them to fit inside the opening. They won't cover the last 12" at the top. You may try a soft valance for the uncovered area or simply leave it uncovered as a cafe style installation. The real solution is to place an order for custom made shutters.
19. I am looking for cafe style shutters for a very small window . I would like the shutters to be 17" high. I don't see that size on your price list. Is it available?
Answer: We don't offer a discount shutter less than 20" high. The solution is to purchase the shortest height available (20") and trim it to the desired height; however, the trim should be no more than 1" top and bottom.
20. Are your shutters all the same price (wood vs vinyl etc)? I could not find separate price lists to be able to compare.

21. I have a window that measures 60" wide by 48 " high. I want to mount windows inside with drywall mount. Want polyvinyl (white) shutters with 2.25 louvers. Are your discount shutters available for those measurements and how many sets do I need to order for each window.?
Answer: Our Discount Shutters can be used if you order 2 shutter sets (1043) and re-hinge the 2 shutter sets to bi-fold 2 panels right and 2 panels left. Then use the mount strips and E/Z Strips to fit the exact width of the opening.
22. I have 3 windows that are 90" wide. What can I do about that?
Answer: Discount Shutters are made to fit most window sizes. The 90" width of your windows is not a size we run into often. The best solution is to consider the custom made shutter product. However, if you are resourceful and would like the challenge you can use the discount shutters. You will have to assemble 3 shutter sets and get creative to make it work.
I will assume you have three, (maybe two) windows in this opening and that you have a vertical section between each opening. This being the case we will separate the windows into individual sections by installing a finished wood section that the shutters can be hinged from at the vertical separation of the windows.
Once the vertical sections are installed, you simply measure between them and order the appropriate size. Hint. try to keep the space between the posts equal so the shutter sets when installed look consistent in width. You can use the mount strip a vertical section.
